Comments : Contemporary artist Soichi Watanabe uses an almost cubist approach in his depiction of Zachaeus meeing Jesus. The limited color palatte and simple line serves to draw more attention the the story being told. There is a humility here, an artist's humility. Watanabe places the two main figures in the brightest colors. He also has used a specific device to separate the two important figures in the painting from the crowd. Can you see it? -Mel Ahlborn
